So what did everyone think of the King Sombra segment?
Out of all the time lines I thought it was the best. Hopefully this can inspire more fan fiction about King Sombra related to that timeline.
War and death is now truly a real thing in this show and seems to outright smash the idea with a sledgehammer that Equestria is an utopia. It can fall into darkness if they aren't careful.
So we're finally here, the epic two-part finale to season 5!

So I just got done watching Canned Cream's and Brawny Buck's reviews of the season finale and when the question of why Twilight thought the Nightmare Moon future was worse then the previous two come up and this is my two bits.

To me, the most interesting detail is Zecora's reaction in the Chrysalis timeline.
My last blog post this morning was really random and poorly thought out. I thought I'd counter that with something more substantial, or at least more coherent.
Well, the screaming monkeys are back. If you read my review of Friendshit Games you know that that means.
That was easily the worst season finale I've ever seen. (And no, not just MLP)
Between:
Starlight's entire backstory being one big temper tantrum of her friend leaving. (Seriously, did she not write him a letter? Go visit? Did SHE NOT GET INVITED TO GO TO CELESTIA'S SCHOOL FOR GIFTED UNICORNS?!)
Alright. That episode was great and all, but...
While I do enjoy the Cutie Remark, I do think the episode needed a better ending. So here's a thought:
When Twilight and Starlight land in the Crystal War timeline, King Sombra's forces actually manage to kidnap Starlight (he detected two very powerful magic users in the vicinity and became interested). He learns she's a time traveler and wants the spell. Starlight refuses to hoof it over, but Sombra keeps her contained and unable to cast. He's going to rip it from her, one way or another.
(Obviously, this post contains spoilers from the season finale)
Let's say that Twilight Sparkle's battle with Starlight Glimmer produced one more timeline: One where things didn't exactly go wrong, but they did go very differently.
Twilight in this case gives Rainbow Dash a boost to get through Starlight's interference. The Sonic Rainboom still happens, which is good. The bad news?
The Equestrian military instructor stared at the class in front of him. Each pony completely focussed on his instruction. These were no young cadets, but soldiers with experience enough to know that missing a single detail could cost them their life. This is the full on Evil Shepherd timeline. Didn't really work with Aftermath as written, but I might do something with it later.
This Shepherd became the new host of the Nightmare Entity after Celestia and Luna were both locked into the sun and moon by Sombra. Shepherd defeated Sombra, but took over as a tyrant named Nightmare Wrath.
If envy and sorrow were the genesis of Nightmare Moon? Shepherd's anger and rage were the genesis of Nightmare Wrath.

The fic Aftermath had a lot more scenes, but I decided to cut it down to just the essentials. However, here's one that I hope you will enjoy: The perspective of an alternate universe Shepherd. In the Nightmare Moon Wins timeline:

My Queen made me into her Black Knight. Her Magix turned me from a mere human into a living weapon. I could see in the dark, punch through steel, heal from any injury...
Yet every time I returned to this dark palace, I felt more and more tired.
No screencaps because 1:07 AM. Also holy crap, season finale.
I loved it. Not so much because Starlight Glimmer (anything about her, really), but everything else. Really, I like to look at this special as a nod to fanfiction, because I swear the writers were looking at us for this one, maybe even more than #100.
FoE's self-levitation? Confirmed.
What everyone else is thinking: I really hope Twilight can stop Starlight Glimmer, so that she can stop these dystopian futures!
